Beauty is Embarrassing
Off the Grid Films takes to the airwaves today on KAFM from 12:30-1:00 MST to discuss BEAUTY IS EMBARRASSING - THE WAYNE WHITE STORY. As a big fan of Pee-wee's Playhouse as a kid, I was fascinated to get a close look at the man responsible for creating and voicing the darkly entrancing puppets and set pieces transmitted to my starkly contrasting middle class family room every Saturday morning.
I'll be joined live in the "historic" Peter Trosclair Broadcast booth by Western Colorado artists and personal friends Diana Woods Eisner and John Anglim to hash out the offbeat, funny and often touching life story of the artistic deviant who has been quietly redefining pop culture for the last 25 years. Armed with an iconic blend of biting satire and a "fuck you" attitude, Wayne White is the perfect weapon to bring down the often myopic pretension of the modern art world.
Western Colorado residents can enjoy a free screening of BEAUTY IS EMBARRASSING on Wednesday, Dec 19th in the Academic Classroom Building on the CMU campus. Colorado residents, check the Rocky Mountain PBS website for screenings in your area broadcast listings. Otherwise, visit the film's official website for additional viewing options.
