One more reason to love CBS Sunday Morning

CBS Sunday Morning is a ritual in our house.  Such a calming compliment to the coffee that normally jolts us into the day.  Bill Geist is always a particular favorite, but this story held a very personal interest for me.  The story of THE GHASTLY LOVE OF JOHNNY X entertainingly depicts the sheer difficulty of getting your film "out there."

Much like the subject of one of my favorite docs, "American Movie," I give the utmost credit to any filmmaker who manages to get his/her film made and out to the public - no matter how bizarre the film's mastermind, no matter how minuscule the film's "public" might be.

It's not enough just to get the film's name up on the marquee...it's hours of shameless peddling to passersby with someplace else to be.  To attract an audience, independent filmmakers must transform  themselves into the cinema world's version of the door-to-door salesman.

As for THE GHASTLY LOVE OF JOHNNY X, I hope it experiences a "Sunday Morning bump."  Hell, I might even have to bring this one to my town...with the right marketing, I'm sure we'd get those box office grosses up to $1000...
